Youth Serving Youth 2

On April 26th, 2014, The Voice Gavel Club hosted its second "Youth Serving Youth" Humanitarian Leadership Project charity event. Raising funds for Project Life World Life Institute, a non-profit war orphans rehabilitation program, the members of the club worked day and night to collect funds for their peers on the other side of the fence in order to allow them to live a healthy and peaceful life. The event was hosted at The Novotel Hotel in North York with over 150 guests in attendance.

The night began with networking and the display of a variety of different vendor booths as well as live traditional music performances such as a Pipa performance by Mary Qiu and a lute performance by Gavelier member Jin Rong. A live fashion show sponsored by three wonderful designers - Sel Unson, Hina Designs and Iman Designs as well as models from Orange Models Management featured diverse fashion styles from all around the world, following an art auction with paintings sponsored by our own beloved Gavelier, Jane Fu, and sculptures by renowned artist, Lorenzo Ghiglieri.

Furthermore, a three course dinner was served and many wonderful speeches were delivered by Honorable Deputy Mayor Jack Heith, The Voice Gavel Club Cohort 3 President Bruce Wu, founder of The Voice Gavel Club Robin Hu, our very Cohort Cohort 4 President Jack Ding and lastly, our mentor Ms. Zaidi. The Humanitarian Leadership Award was also presented to both Bruce Wu as well as our Cohort 4 Co-president, Priscilla Wu, who also received the Bruce Wu Humanitarian Leadership Award. The event ended in a huge success, raising $17, 426.26, which will be used to rehabilitate the orphans. All Gavel Club Cohort 4 members did a tremendous job in the planning of the event and on behalf of our team, we would like to thank everyone who supported us on our journey towards the success of this remarkable event!
